Thoughts That Haunt Before Bed
When silence falls as darkness does
When the hour hand strikes twelve oclock
Into fetal position I curl up
Under blankets in pillow forts.
With varied thoughts on random tales
All starring ghosts and bogeymen,
Ghouls that phase through doors and walls
And creatures with fur and sharpest fangs.
Creeping out of cranny and nook
Every avenue of shadowed domain;
From darkened mirrors to creaking closets
And always from under the bedframes.
Running on gears of chewed up bones
That open up inter dimensional portals
Mechanisms functioned by empty lost souls
Only that for explanation and rationale.
I wonder what goes on
In all the unseen planes
Do these creatures scare each other
Or are they best of friends?
And if it turns out that they are
Then perhaps these nightly visits
To bedrooms are nothing more
Than just some sort of a road trip.
Part of a coming of age story
In which a human is involved,
Not as a form of delicacy,
But someone to stir a monsters heart.
But I am having second thoughts
On their friendliness and etiquette
With my life on the line
Its a chance Id rather not take.
So Ill sleep with this switch in hand,
For the only truth in all of this,
Is that the one thing they all fear
Is a blinding fluorescent abyss!

And in the daylight we can hitchhike to Maine
I hope that someday I'll see without these frames
And in the daylight I don't pick up my phone
'Cause in the daylight anywhere feels like home

it's more like the kid in you,
that part of childhood just hasn't left you yet.
but we all do have a kid in us,
just how deep he or she is hiding. o.O

To the sunrise and the sunset.
The master and his servant have exactly the same fate.
Its a sunrise and a sunset.
From a cradle to a casket. - Bright Eyes
